Bar Refaeli does her part to save the beach by posing with a surf board on a sand-covered carpet  at the `Corona Save the Beach’ event at the Andaz Hotel in London.  Weird - you would think saving the beach would mean keeping the sand on it.

On a recent trip to Israel, Srubs star Zach Braff told Haaretz daily newspaper he wants to make a movie about “an American Jew who visits Israel. As a Jew, I think it’s really important to come to this place . . . I love it.” Hmmm let me guess Braff’s script will tell the story of a smart-ass bacon-eating kid headed to Israel on one of those Birthright trips just so he can get a free summer vacation.  He then falls in love with a blond hair blue eyed kibbutz hottie (think Bar Refaeli) and the wonders of Judasim become alive before his very eyes.  How am I doing?  Am I on to something?

Model Bar Refaeli is the face of Hurley’s Young Contemporary Spring 2009 apparel and swim collection. She looks so like she just walked off the kibbutz onto the beach.

Bar Refaeli won Hottest Jew at the VMAs last night, though Jonah Hill came in a close second - humor does count for something!  And Ms. Christina wins for Sexiest Shiksa!  Wow and Slash and the Mrs. still rocking after all these years in the same getups from 1987.

Well that ain’t news, so what is? Ha’aretz, a major Israeli newspaper asks, “How did the Israeli model (Bar Refaeli) conquer the blogs and the gossip columns, and why do the Americans love her so much?”

“Many Israeli stars have tried their luck in the land of endless possibilities, and at best got 30 seconds of screen time, usually portraying a Lebanese terrorist. In fact, it has been a long time since an Israeli immigrant was able to win over the hearts of the American public, star in the tabloids and gain the adoration of teens in the land of Uncle Sam. Then came Bar Refaeli.”

Well, unlike Haaretz’s popular theory that it was Bar’s romance with Leonardo Dicaprio that made her a splash with the American public, I think it all has to do with her name. With a name like Bar, how you can forget her? After all it’s most Americans favorite place to be, especially when it comes to gossip bloggers, where else can we go to wash off the shmutz from writing this kind of stuff?
