Helena Bonham Carter plays the Jewish mother, Esther Reuben, in “Sixty Six,” Paul Weiland’s semi-autobiographical film, “Sixty Six,” a comedy that recounts his disastrous bar mitzvah and the childhood that went with it. Taking the role made Carter’s own mom very happy since her daughter was finally going to play a nice Jewish mother as opposed to pie-making cannibal . In an interview done about “Sixty Six” in the Jewish Journal the actress talks about connecting with her Jewish roots on her mother’s side and about naming her daughter, Nell, born in December, after “all the Helens in the family.”
